Objective
The objective of this project is to improve the Quality of life of all dogs, whether stray, owned, or in a kennel.
These the products of the project:
- Software through which data is collected and analysed in order to monitor the Quality of Life. It’s an application to support the work of veterinarians, private and public institutions such as kennels and universities.
- Training and certifications for professionals that will use the software and adopt our methods.
End Results
With increased numbers of professionals using this approach and software, the more data is generated thus benefiting future research and services.
This will work for all dogs, whether feral, owned, or in a kennel.
Let’s see how:
- For dogs who have an owner, our methods mean:
- An understanding of what the dog values and what’s required to make the relationship work.
- A holistic approach to the dog’s happiness and wellbeing.
- Data quantified life conditions and parameters
- As a result of the above, we expect a reduction of the number of dogs abandoned or returned to kennels.
- For stray or bred dogs, our methods mean:
- Improved life conditions for dogs
- Improved interactions between fellow dogs and potential human companions thus making the transition to adoption easier.
- For local institutions, our methods mean:
- Data gathered from all organizations can be collected and analysed thus ensuring that institutions are meeting the proscribed standards.
- Analysis can show whether the project is heading in on track or if adjustments have to be made and if so, where.
Stakeholders
This project is meant for animal care professionals such as veterinarians, trainers, breeders, animal protection officials, also, local communities and institutions but most importantly, dogs!
A closely related area of study is how the well being and welfare of dogs affects their human companions.
